On the morning of April 15, a delegation from the College of Geography and Ocean Science of Yanbian University, including Associate Dean Park Wenhua, Director of the Geographic Information Science Program Zhu Yongyan, Director of the Geography Science Program Jin Guangyi, and Director of the Environmental Science Program Jin Bin, visited the School of Resource and Environmental Sciences at Lanzhou University for an exchange. Professor Guan Qingyu, Associate Dean of Teaching at the School of Resource and Environmental Sciences of Lanzhou University, along with faculty members including Associate Professor Jin Ming, Professor Nian Yanyun, Professor Zheng Yian, and Teaching Secretary Liu Xingde, participated in the meeting. During the meeting, both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as discipline construction, talent cultivation, teaching reform, and the development of young faculty members. They jointly explored new ideas for the innovation and development of undergraduate education and teaching.
Professor Guan Qingyu first warmly welcomed the colleagues from the College of Geography and Ocean Science of Yanbian University and provided a systematic introduction to the development of the School of Resource and Environmental Sciences, including its history, academic structure, scientific research, social services, and international cooperation. He emphasized the research achievements the school had made in areas such as the construction of ecological security barriers in the western regions of China and high-quality development in the Yellow River basin. He also shared the innovative practices of the“Top Geographical Talent Program”and the“Earth Sciences Elite Class”talent cultivation model.The Associate Dean of Teaching from the College of Geography and Ocean Science of Yanbian University introduced the disciplinary features of their college, particularly in Northeast Asian regional geography, marine resource development, and ecological protection. He elaborated on the college’s talent cultivation system based on "interdisciplinary integration and industry-education collaboration." Notably, he highlighted the practical teaching platforms built with regional resources such as the Changbai Mountains and the Tumen River, as well as the achievements in fields such as geographic information science and border environmental governance.
This exchange activity has built a bridge for mutual communication and learning between the two colleges, injecting new momentum into cross-regional academic collaboration. Both sides expressed their commitment to establishing a regular exchange mechanism to deepen cooperation in areas such as faculty exchange, scientific research collaboration, and innovation in talent cultivation models.
